A Message from the Scholastics Director:
I recently viewd a NCAA commercial where it talks about the 50,000 student-athletes who will go pro in something other than sports when their college career is done. For most, that truly is the case. Many children dream of becoming a professional athlete, but before playing professional sports, the classroom has to be the starting point.
Colleges require a certain Grade Point Average (GPA) for one to be considered for attending their establishment.VA North Pop Warner require that football players and cheerleaders must have a 70/2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA). Therefore if you're thinking grades aren't important, think again. Start now by putting forth your best effort of getting it done in the classroom fist as well as one the field.
Pop Warner has an All- American Scholar Program which each year, the most academically accomplished Pop Warner kids compete for Academic All-American status. This process begins at the association level and up through each of the eight Pop Warner regions to the national level. In 2011 over 400,000 kids participated in Pop Warner. The numbers once again reached record levels, a record numbers of All-American Scholar applications were submitted, more than 9,700 applications. Though these were record numbers, I believe these numbers can be doubled. By as I mentioned earlier it begins with you getting it done in the classroom first. Looking forward for us working together with great expectations.
